18. Tudor Cottage
|
| Tudor Cottage may be older in parts than the Tudor period; it is timber-framed with brick infill and a stone rubble gable-end. Formerly called Donnington Cottage, it was held from the manor on 99-year leases. The half-acre grounds have served as a smallholding, and as vegetable plot when the building was a restaurant in the mid-20th century. They have now disappeared under a small development called Tudor Close (1978) where resident gardeners appreciate the quality of the soil. |
